Deep ruby/purple, the 2017 Syrah Yellow Bird Vineyard checks in as 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier that saw loads of stems as well as 20 months in 20% new French oak. Beautiful notes of black raspberries, ground pepper, flowers, and hints of orange blossom all emerge from the glass, and it's medium-bodied, ethereally textured, silky, and beautifully balanced on the palate. It's not for those craving powerful, opulent Syrahs yet has a Cote Rotie-like elegance and complexity. Give it a year or two and enjoy over the following decade. Drink 2021-2032.

EDITORS CHOICE
The aromas and flavors are effusive, with notes of flowers, coffee, orange peel, smoked ham, spice and plum. A lively sense of acidity bolsters it all. The tannins are a bit clenched at present, but it has great stuffing. Give it additional time in the bottle or a short decant to see it shine.
Wine Tasting Notes
A bright bouquet of lavender, bergamot, and cassia bark. Wet stone, white pepper, and nutmeg accent a core of blueberry and bramble fruit. Expansive and concentrated without overripe fruit and intrusive amounts of new oak. The long, expansive finish is driven by natural tannins and acidity. This wine will age fantastically well, easily over ten years from release. If you have the patience, hold for at least 2 years from release. Decant prior to enjoying.
