Wine Tasting Notes
Masso Antico Primitivo, with its ruby red color and its complex bouquet, is characterized by intense and fine aromas, that go from mature fruit to spicy notes.

Masso Antico Primitivo is a beautiful Italian Primitivo (Zinfandel) that is produced in Apulia, Italy. This wine is produced in "leggermente appasitto" style, which means "slightly withered" on the vine like a raisin. This process of natural, partial dehydration of the grapes produces a greater concentration of colors, aromas, and flavors in the wine. The oak aging helps round out the sweetness and gives the wine a nice soft tannic structure. Later all the grapes are blended back together giving the 100% Primitivo a higher alcohol percentage and soft finish. Masso Antico Primitivo obtains a ruby red color and a complex bouquet complemented by intense and fine aromas of ripe fruits and spicy notes. Masso Antico Primitivo Appassito Salento IGT is an elegant Italian red that is award-winning across various vintages.

Masso Anrico Primitivo Appassito salento IGT 2021 Italy

Am ordering our second case of 12. When we first opened this wine it smelled funny and while it didn’t taste bad it wasn’t great either. We accidentally left the remainder of the bottle sitting open overnight and before throwing it away I took a taste and it was great/delicious. Last night we opened it 4 hours before drinking, invited friends to give it a blind taste test against a $100+ bottle of Napa Cab and the Masso Antico won hands down. It was delicious. Just let it breathe 4 hours.
