Rated 93
The 2023 Zinfandel Old Vine is largely from the Saini family vineyard, about 60%, with San Lorenzo fruit from Pete Seghesio and another source. It also includes 7% Petite Sirah, 5% Carignane, 3% Alicante Bouschet, and 2% mixed reds. It pours a deeper purple/ruby color and has bright red fruit alongside darker, more compact berry tones, with rich tannins and a more compact structure and core. It can benefit from another year or more in bottle, as this is not a simple fruity style. Black cherries and brambly earth emerge with full-bodied richness that remains chiseled and reined in. Drink 2026-2036.
